Chestnut Ridge Welcomes New Director of Tennis
Brad Breakstone will be assuming the Director of Tennis position at Chestnut Ridge in May 2018.
Here is a short note with words from Brad and Bob Schewior, the outgoing Director.
Chestnut tennis players and families,
As of May 12th, Brad Breakstone will be assuming the duties of Director of Tennis at Chestnut Ridge. I have had a long and rewarding time in this position and I’m extremely proud to be informing you all that Brad is stepping into the position. He is highly capable as both a teacher and an organizer and he has tremendous enthusiasm and love for tennis.
I will still be around Chestnut giving some lessons but all Director’s questions regarding scheduling, makeup lessons, etc should be directed to Brad. He will be getting my strongest support as we make the transition between now and May 12th.
It’s been my pleasure to have served as both Head Tennis Professional and Director of Tennis for over 40 years.
Message from Brad:
It is my honor to be stepping into the role as Director of Tennis here at Chestnut Ridge. And my delight that most of you reading this already know me.
After growing up in Bedford, playing here as a junior, and teaching here as a professional for more than 13 years, I feel as many others do, that this club is my second home; and our pros, office staff and especially the players are my family!
I could not have been more fortunate than to have had Bob Schewior as my mentor for many of those years. I’m also happy to announce that our junior programs will remain top quality in the area with the appointment of Olga Warshaw as Head of High Performance Training. Olga has experience at the highest level of the game and has for years applied her skills both training and developing juniors, with a level of caring not to be beat. I will be working closely with Olga in coordinating future spring, summer and winter junior programs, and proud to have her as part of our team!
Almost 50 years ago, Bill Banks started Chestnut Ridge. He felt the people of Bedford and surrounding towns needed a place for recreational and competitive tennis players to call their home, both in the outdoor and indoor seasons. Bill Banks’ love for the game led to others developing their passion for tennis, as it is truly a lifetime sport!
I look forward to helping this club be home to many others. With a full complement of programs, pros, teams and events for all levels of adults and juniors, I’m confident Chestnut Ridge will continue to be one of the area’s premier tennis clubs!
